Odisha’s SOA Holds First International FDP On Professional And Research Writing
Bhubaneswar: A five-day International Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Recent Trends in Professional and Research Writing, the first of its kind organised by Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) here, concluded on Monday.
Resource persons at the FDP, held virtually with the focus on research methodologies, highlighted the new avenues, which present day research unfolded and the scientific process of discovering and communicating meaningful patterns of research data.
The FDP, organised by the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Institute of Technical Education and Research, faculty of engineering and technology of SOA in collaboration with Interdisciplinary Journal for Humanities and Social Sciences (Scopus Indexed) and the University of Arizona, was attended by around 500 participants.
The participants were told that analytics led to the uncovering of hidden patterns in the world, which could transform one’s view of the world for the better. The resource persons also explained how writing was an art and how it could be done in a comprehensive manner.
Prof. J.P.Singh Joreel, Director, Inflibnet Centre, Gandhinagar, the chief guest on the inaugural day, spoke on emerging trends in research in linguistics and related areas.
The other resource persons included Prof. Albrecht Classen from the University of Arizona, Prof. L.K.Jena from Xavier University, Bhubaneswar, Ms. Pratigyan Das, Senior Assistant Editor, The Times of India, New Delhi and Prof. Anand Mahanand, Head of Department, English, and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), Hyderabad. Prof. Tirtha Prasad Mukhopadhyay, Professor at the University of Mexico, who addressed the valedictory session, spoke on the subject ‘Pedagogy in Research’.
Dr. Swayam Prabha Satpathy, Associate Professor in the Department of Humanities, was the Convenor of the FDP while Dr. Kabita Das, Head of Department of Humanities was the Co-convenor. The coordinators were Dr. Shibani Patnaik, Dr. Malvika Mohapatra, Dr. Subismita Lenka, Dr. Moushumi Dash, Ms. Prachisri Mishra, and Ms. Monalisa Mishra.
