Official Holidays Of Odisha Agri Officers Cancelled For Crop Damage Assessment
Bhubaneswar: The Agriculture Department of the Odisha government has cancelled official holidays for its staff on October 26-27 for the assessment of damage to standing crops due to Cyclone Dana, which made landfall along Odisha coast in the early hours of Friday.
“In view of the urgent nature of post-cyclone activities in ‘DANA’ affected districts, particularly for assessment of damage to standing crops, official holidays on October 26-27 are hereby cancelled. All officers of the Department in the affected districts, and in Bhubaneswar, are directed not to leave their official headquarters during these days and remain alert for duty, as required,” the order said.
Any kind of deviation in this regard will be viewed seriously, it added.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had warned of moderate damage to banana and papaya trees. Damage to horticulture and standing crops in some areas due to inundation and wind was also predicted.
