Old Woman & Minor Grand-Daughter Thrown Off Auto-Rickshaw After Loot In Odisha’s Ganjam

Berhampur: Some unidentified miscreants alleged looted an old woman by giving her and her grand-daughter intoxication-laced drinks and threw them on roadside in Odisha’s Ganjam district.

According to police sources, Kuntala Kumari Gouda of Purusottampur along with her grand-daughter Sweety had gone to meet her elder daughter in Chadheyapalli on Sunday. Kuntala left her daughter’s place in an auto-rickshaw at around 4.30 pm.

As they did not reach home till night, their family members got worried and started enquiring about them from their relatives and acquaintances. At around 10 pm, they got a phone call informing them that Kuntala and Sweety had been admitted unconscious in a hospital in Chhatrapur.

Kuntala’s family rushed to Chhatrapur and shifted the old lay and her grand-daughter to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur. Both of them had not regained consciousness even 24 hours being admitted to hospital.

The sources said some locals found Kuntala and Sweety lying unconscious on roadside at Kainchapur under Rambha police station at around 9 pm and informed the police. The police have registered a case and started investigation.

From preliminary investigation, the police suspected that some miscreants might have given intoxication-laced drinks to Kuntala and Sweety on the way and looted them after they lost consciousness. The family members stated that a gold necklace of 20 gram and a silver bracelet of 200 gram were missing from Kunatala.
