Puri: Olive Ridley turtles have started laying eggs at Astaranga in Puri district and Forest Department officials rescued 136 Olive Ridley Turtles’ eggs near Keluni Muhana on Thursday.
The eggs have been kept safely at a temporary reproduction centre at Jahania. Notably, hatchlings emerge around 40-45 days after the mother turtle lays the eggs.
The Forest Department has also put restrictions on use of motor boats and mechanised trawlers for fishing from Devi Muhana to Baliharachandi in Brahmagiri for the safety of turtles.
