Bhubaneswar: Well-known Ollywood actor and comedian Salil Mitra, who was critically injured in a road mishap at Ghatagan in Odisha’s Keonjhar district on May 12, passed away at the Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) here late on Monday night.
Family sources said Mitra passed away at 12.15am. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
Mitra had gone to Karanjia for a shoot on May 12. After the shoot, he was on his way back to Bhubaneswar when the car in which he was travelling met with an accident near Ghatagan College. Mitra, who sustained fractures to his ribs and backbone, was rushed to KIMS where he was kept on a ventilator. Despite efforts by the doctors, his condition turned critical.
Mitra began his acting career in 1999 with Odia movie Pua Bhangidela Suna Sansara. Later, he had acted in Shasti, Love Station, Love Paeen Kuchh Bhi Karega, Mahanayak, Gapa Helebi Sata and Sister Sridevi.
