Bhubaneswar: A youth from Andhra Pradesh has accused an Ollywood actress of duping him of cash, gold jewellery and a laptop after promising to marry him.
The youth, Padmaraju Ravi Kumar, hails from Visakhapatnam and works in Mumbai. He has complained to the Twin City Police Commissioner and Bhubaneswar DCP in this regard.
According to the complaint, Padmaraju had opened an account on a matrimonial website in August 2018. A woman, who identified herself as an Ollywood actress, then left a reply on his profile. She also mentioned that she was a native of Jajpur district.
The two then exchanged phone numbers and kept calling each other for some days. Later, Padmaraju came to Odisha and met the actress in Bhubaneswar. The actress then told Padmaraju she loved him and wanted to marry him.
“She asked me for Rs 2 lakh prior to the launch of her movie several times. I obliged her and transferred the amount online,” said Padmaraju.
She then demanded gold chain and earrings as birthday gifts and a laptop for her personal work. Padmaraju fulfilled all these demands.
Padmaraju asked the actress to marry him in August 2019, but she refused. Shocked and heartbroken, Padmaraju demanded that she return the laptop, cash and gold jewellery. On this, the actress allegedly threatened that she will file a sexual harassment complaint against him.
Padmaraju then approached Mumbai Police, who asked him to file a complaint with Odisha Police. Accordingly, he mailed his complaint to the Twin City Police Commissioner and Bhubaneswar DCP, who have assured him of action in this regard.
The actress couldn’t be reached for a comment despite several attempts.
