Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Mineral Bearing Areas Development Corporation (OMBADC) has proposed to take up 205 schools for transformation under the 5T initiative of the state government.
The CEO of OMBADC, G Rajesh presented 2 new proposals including High School Transformation for the schools and supporting the Mukhyamantri Sampoorna Pushti Yojana (MMSPY) in 78 ICDS projects at the Corporation’s Board of Directors meeting on Tuesday.
While the school transformation programme will be taken up with a cost of Rs 125.46 crore, the MMSPY in ICDS projects will have a budget of Rs 589.46 crore. In the school transformation proposal, face-lifting of schools will be taken up with improved infrastructure and introducing technology in education. The interventions will benefit more than 24,600 students in Classes IX and X in the high schools of Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Mayurbhanj and Sundargarh districts.
As per the financial status of the Corporation for financial year 2022-23, presented by the CEO at the meeting, the Board has approved 54 projects amounting to Rs 17318.05 crore under the Compensation money funds since April 2019. The projects have been proposed by 18 different departments and most of the approved projects are under implementation.
These departments have utilised Rs 6227.97 crore (68%) till date out of the total released fund of Rs 9,181.06 crore. The projects pertaining to sectors like Drinking Water, Education, Health, Livelihood, Environment Protection, Rural Connectivity and Water Conservation are being carried out.
The Board was also informed that total funds of Rs 2672.88 crore was disbursed to different departments in FY 2021-22 and Rs 2954.27 crore released in FY 2022-23 till date.
Chief Secretary-cum-Chairman, OMBADC Pradeep Kumar Jena, who chaired the meeting, reviewed progress of different works being carried out and sanction of funds from OMBADC so far.
Sushil Kumar Lohani, Principal Secretary, PR & DW Department, Debidutta Biswal, PCCF & HoFF and all independent directors were present in the meeting. Among others, Mona Sharma, ACS, FE&CC department; DK Singh, ACS, Steel & Mines; Roopa Roshan Sahoo, secretary, ST&SC Development department and other members of BoD were also present through virtual Mode.
Subha Sarma, secretary, Women & Child Development department was the special invitee present. Anu Garg, Development Commissioner and Lohani, Principal Secretary, PR & DW department were incorporated as new directors in the Board of OMBADC.
The annual report of OMBADC ‘Abhyudaya’ for 2021-22 and brochures for January and February 2023 were released at the meeting.
