Bhubaneswar: Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) convened a Corporate Level Tripartite Safety Committee Meeting in Bhubaneswar to review safety and health performance across its mining operations and discuss measures for further strengthening mine safety, occupational health and worker welfare.
The meeting was chaired by Shyam Sundar Prasad, Deputy Director General of Mines Safety, South Eastern Zone, Ranchi, and attended by Sudhansu Mohan Samal, Managing Director of OMC.
The deliberations covered health facilities for workers, welfare amenities, implementation of the recommendations of the 12th National Conference on Safety in Mines, and compliance with applicable statutory provisions relating to electrical, mechanical and mining safety.
DGMS officials appreciated OMC’s digitization initiatives in the safety domain and commended the corporation for maintaining zero fatal accidents across its mines for the past three consecutive years, acknowledging the efforts of OMC management in advancing the goal of Zero Harm in mining operations.
Officials from the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS) who participated in the meeting included N Balasubrahmanyam ,DMS Region-2, Shri AK Mishra Directors of Mines Safety (DMS) ,Region-1 and Deputy Directors of Mines Safety (DDMS) from Region–I T Hari Prasad and U Siva Shankar DDMS, Region–II, along with Director of Mines Safety (Mechanical) and Director of Mines Safety (Electrical) from the Ranchi Zone.
From OMC, Sudhanshu Sekhar Khora, Executive Director (F&E); Alok Pal, Director (HR); Talat Afreen, OAS, Executive Director (P&A) and Head CSR; Rajesh Mishra, Chief General Manager (Production); Malay Kar, General Manager (HR); and Anurag Ojha, Assistant General Manager (Mines Safety), along with other senior officials of the corporation, were present.
Around 18 workmen representatives from different mining regions also participated in the meeting.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment among all stakeholders to continue collaborative efforts towards strengthening safety systems and promoting responsible and safe mining practices across OMC’s operations.
