One Arrested For Online Child Sexual Abuse & Exploitation In Odisha’s Dhenkanal
Dhenkanal: The CBI officials on Wednesday arrested one person from Colonysahi area of Dhenkanal in connection with the online child sexual abuse and exploitation case.
The accused, Surendra Nayak, was forwarded to Special CBI court.
In another development, the CBI team is raiding the house of another accused at Ganjizang panchayat under Agarpada police limits in the case at Bhadrak.
Villagers said the man on whos house the raids are on had come to the village about 5 years back and was riding a tempo to earn a living. The villagers said they were shocked to learn about the man’s involvement in child pornography case as he did not have any bad habits like alcohol or even chewing paan.
He had reportedly stayed in a foreign land before coming to settle in the village. He is also married and has children, said the villagers.
The raids, that started on Tuesday, were carried out in Bhadrak, Jajpur and Dhenkanal in Odisha and FIRs lodged against two persons — Manoranjan Das from Binayakpur in Bhadrak’s Agarpada and Anil Majhi from Masudpur, Jajpur Road.
CBI officials said Nayak has been arrested for sharing and circulating pornographic content on various social media platforms for monetary gains.
Nayak admitted to have created a group where he used to share links of adult content. The links were shared on mobile phones and other social media platforms and make money.
“It was only two months that I joined the group after coming across a link on the internet. I was only sharing the links of adult contents from one website to other sites and groups. I had received 21 USD (Rs 2000 approximately),” Nayak had told reporters on Tuesday.
The raids are part of the nation-wide crackdown on online child sex abuse. The CBI teams carried out the raids in 14 states, including Odisha.
Meanwhile, chairperson of Odisha State Commission For Protection Of Child Rights Sandhyabati Pradhan said the Commission will seek a report from CBI and Odisha Crime Branch regarding the findings in the investigation.
Stating that the Commission is working towards stopping child pornography, she said stringent action will be taken against those sharing and circulating abuse material on the internet.
