One killed & 13 Injured As Bike Collides With Auto-Rickshaw In Odisha’s Rayagada

Rayagada: One person was killed and 13 others were injured in a collision between a motorcycle and an auto-rickshaw in Odisha’s Rayagada district on Sunday.

According to sources, the accident took place on the road connecting Maa Majhighariani temple with Pitamohal in the town.

The bike rider, identified as Ganesh Pidika of Beheraguda in the town, was going with two others of Gurka Sahi from the temple. At the same time, 11 persons from Atada, Seshkhol and Kanchabalasar villages of the district on the border with Andhra Pradesh were coming to the temple in the auto-rickshaw.

As the bike collided with the auto-rickshaw, Ganesh sustained critical injuries on the head and died on the spot. The two others riding with him were also seriously injured. All the passengers of the auto-rickshaw were also injured.

Following the accident, the locals rescued the injured persons and admitted them in the district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Rayagada. The condition of two bike riders was critical, medical sources said.

On being informed, district collector along with a team from Rayagada police station visited the spot. The police have registered a case and started investigation.
