One Killed As Ambulance Hits Truck, 14 Injured In Vehicle Collisions
Bhubaneswar: One person died and 14 persons were injured, five of them seriously, in separate road accidents in Odisha on Friday.
Reports from Balasore said one person was killed and five others injured when an ambulance hit a truck from behind near Haladipadar on National Highway-60. The accident took place in the early hours when the ambulance was on its way to Balasore from Hashimpur in Baliapal block, carrying one patient.
Of the five injured, three of them were admitted to the district headquarters hospital while the two were later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack after their condition deteriorated.
In the other mishap, seven passengers were injured when a Bhubaneswar-bound private bus from Nuapada collided with a truck on National Highway-42 at Khuntuni market area in Cuttack district in the early morning hours.
The injured were admitted to a community health centre (CHC) at Khuntuni from where two were shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack in a critical condition.
Similarly, two persons were injured when a mini truck rammed a roadside tea stall at Baula Bazar of Nischintkoili block in Cuttack district in the morning.
Sources said that the mini truck driver lost control over the vehicle which hit a tea stall. While the tea stall owner sustained minor injury, a customer was seriously injured. Police later rushed him to the SCB in Cuttack.
