One-Of-Its-Kind Platform Launched For Female Media Professionals In Odisha
Bhubaneswar: ‘Odisha Women in Media’, a platform for female professionals working in the media and related fields in the state, was launched here on Saturday.
The one-of-its-kind forum will work to safeguard the interest and safety of female journalists and those working in related areas.
Sulochana Das, Mayor of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, and Minati Behera, Chairperson of State Commission for Women, attended the inaugural function held at Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan convention hall and unveiled the forum’s logo.
Sulochana, who is herself from media background, expressed happiness at the launch of the forum and said it had fulfilled a long-felt requirement in the state.
“The floating of the trust has been the culmination of a long-standing requirement,” she said.
It will enable female mediapersons to discuss their professional issues and problems, Sulochana added.
Minati congratulated female mediapersons for launching the forum and expressed the hope that it will grow into a huge organisation.
“There is a need for more number of women to enter the field of media,” she said.
The new trust will work towards upholding moral values and gender equality, besides endeavouring to ensure development and empowerment of women and protect their professional rights.
Chairperson of the Trust Kasturi Ray, vice-chairperson Sarada Lahangir, secretary Minati Singha, trustees and over 100 female media professionals attended the launch event.
