‘One-Sided Love Affair’: Odia Girl Shot At In Bengaluru, Accused Arrested
Bengaluru: An Odia girl was reportedly shot at by a youth in front of a women’s hostel at Munnekolala under Marathahalli police limits in Bengaluru on Tuesday night over a suspected one-sided love affair.
She was admitted to a local hospital by her neighbours. Her condition was stated to be critical.
According to sources, the girl, identified as Subhashree Priyadarshini, has been working at NIMHANS for the last one year. The incident took place while she was returning to her flat last night.
The accused, Amarendra Patnaik, a software engineer working with a firm in the city and a native of Odisha, was arrested by the Maratheli police at 3 pm on Wednesday.
He had allegedly attempted suicide post the incident and was admitted to Sakra Hospital with a deep injury on his neck, sources added.
“We have seized a 17-page letter from the accused in which he has mentioned about his love for the woman. He has also mentioned that he will kill her and commit suicide if he fails in his mission. We have recovered a 7.65 mm country-made gun from a nullah near Marathahalli bridge,” police said.
Asked about the condition of the youth, police said the accused might have tried to commit suicide after firing at the woman. “We have registered a case and begun investigation into the incident,” they added.
