Bhubaneswar: With low pressure over Northwest Bay of Bengal triggering heavy rain in Odisha, the India Meteorological Department on Wednesday issued orange warning for 12 districts of Odisha, including twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, till 7.45 pm.
Moderate rain/thundershower with one or two intense spells of rain is likely in Khurda, Cuttack, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Nayagarh, Balangir, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sonepur, Nuapada, Sambalpur, and Sundargarh in 3 hours. The wether agency has warned of waterlogging in low-lying areas and occasional poor visibility and traffic disruption in urban areas.
It further said that light to moderate rain/thundershower is likely in some parts of remaining districts of the state. People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
Notably, the MeT office has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) at one or two places in Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Ganjam, Boudh, Balangir, Sonepur, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, and Keonjhar till 8.30 am on Thursday. Yellow warning of heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) has also been issued for one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khurda, Nayagarh, Puri, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and Nuapada.
