Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) arrested a second individual within a week for allegedly sharing sensitive and classified information with a suspected Pakistani agent through social media.
According to the ATS, Kanpur Ordnance Factory’s Junior Works Manager Kumar Vikas was in contact with Pakistani agent Neha Sharma via Facebook in January 2025 and allegedly shared confidential information from the Factory.
“ATS Uttar Pradesh received intelligence that Kumar Vikas, working in Ordnance Factory, Kanpur, is also connected with the said alleged ISI agent Neha Sharma and is providing confidential information and documents of Ordnance Factory to the alleged Pakistani agent through WhatsApp,” ATS police said in a statement.
Initial investigation revealed that Vikas is a native of Kanpur Dehat who currently resides in Naramau area under the Bithoor police station limits. However, the suspect Neha is believed to be using fake identity and had introduced herself as a Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) employee. She shared her WhatsApp number with Vikas, who then used the Ludo app to communicate secretly.
Lured by money, Vikas allegedly sent classified photographs, confidential documents, ammunition production data, employee attendance sheets, machine layouts, and production-related charts of the Kanpur Ordnance Factory to Neha Sharma, ATS stated.
On March 13, the UP ATS arrested Ravindra Kumar, an employee of Ordnance Factory Firozabad, for allegedly conspiring with Neha and sharing sensitive and classified information related to the Factory.
“ATS UP and their associate agencies got info that there is a person named Ravindra Kumar was sharing different confidential and sensitive information with his Pak ISI handler. So, working on this, our Agra unit did a preliminary interrogation of Ravindra Kumar, and he was called to ATS headquarters for detailed interrogation, where it was proved that he shared very sensitive information through a handler named Neha. This ISI module has been around for a long time,” Additional Director General of Police, ATS, Nilabja Chaudhary, told India TV News.
On the modus operandi, of Pakistani agents, ATS shared that they trap people and extract information which poses a huge threat to national security.
“While interrogating him, we found out that he shared information with the said handler from time to time, which included the daily production report of the said Ordnance Factory (in which he was working) and the receipt of stores, other documents of criminal circulation, the stock that is about to arrive, the requisition, all were shared…Through you, I would request all the sensitive institutions to update their security drills, SOPs, etc., with all the officials of our vital installations and maintain a minimum level of security check on their employees so that such situations can be avoided in future.”
