Cuttack: The Orissa High Court has imposed a ban on the construction of a market complex in front of the residential quarters of the sub-divisional judicial magistrate (SDJM) in Deogarh.
The two-judge bench of Chief Justice S Muralidhar and Justice Chittaranjan Dash imposed the ban on Wednesday.
According to sources, Deogarh Zilla Nagarika Committee had filed a petition seeking intervention against the construction of the market complex following which an interim stay order was issued on February 5, 2018.
Later, on December 7, 2021, the HC sought a report from the district judge, Deogarh, on whether the construction of shop rooms in front of the quarters of the SDJM would create a nuisance.
The district judge submitted a report in September, 2022 which said the residential office of the SDJM is at a distance from the proposed market where it would create noise resulting in a disturbance during official work.
The construction of shop rooms in front of the quarters of the SDJM, Deogarh, would create a nuisance, added the report.
