Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Friday granted conditional bail to gangster Raja Acharya in connection with a case pertaining to abduction of an employee of Bhubaneswar-based Jyote Motors and for extorting money from him.
Acharya had moved the High Court after his bail plea was rejected by Bhubaneswar Additional District Judge Court in March last year.
Having been granted bail in two other cases against him, he is likely to walk out of the jail.
The gangster was convicted in the murder of judo coach Biranchi Das. He was arrested from Goa on May 28, 2008, and had been serving life term in Jharpara Special Jail, Bhubaneswar, since then.
The gangster had killed the judo coach on April 13, 2008, as the latter had came in the way of his alleged one-sided affair with actress Leslie Tripathy.
