Cuttack: In a rare verdict, the Orissa High Court has allowed the custody of a 15-month-old baby boy to his father to save the infant from torture of his mother.
The court granted the custody permission to the father, Chakradhar Nayak of Gop in Puri district, after hearing a petition filed by him and watching a video as evidence produced by him in this regard.
The video showing Chakradhar’s wife Rosalin beating their baby mercilessly had gone viral on social media some time back. It led coordinator of Child Line, Puri to lodge an FIR at Gop police station. Police had rescued the baby in serious condition from Chakradhar’s house and after treatment, handed over to Chakradhar.
Later, Rosalin took the child with her to a relative’s house in Konark. Despite Chakradhar’s repeated requests, she did not allow him to take the infant.
Left with no other option to protect his son from his wife, Chakradhar filed a petition in the High Court along with the video clippings that had gone viral seeking justice for him and his son.
