Cuttack: The Orissa High Court has taken up two projects — ‘Judicial history of Odisha’ and ‘Museum of Justice’ — to archive and preserve the state’s judicial history.
‘Judicial history of Odisha’ will focus on preserving old judicial records and documents not just of the Orissa High Court but also of the Calcutta, Patna and Madras high courts.
Records belonging to the erstwhile high courts of the princely states of Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Patnagarh and others will also be preserved, as also records of district courts dating back to the early 19th century, TNIE reported.
The ‘Museum of Justice’ will recreate court buildings, courtrooms and artefacts of judicial importance.
The projects will be undertaken in collaboration with INTACH and Piloo Mody College of Architecture.
At a workshop on April 9, Chief Justice S Muralidhar formally launched the judicial history project. He said the exercise would be taken up initially for the High Court and the district court in Cuttack. Depending on the results, it would be implemented in the other district courts of Odisha, he said.
