Rescued Orissa HC Lawyer Passes Away At Cuttack’s SCB
Cuttack: Orissa High Court lawyer Pratap Chandra Rout, who was admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital here, died on Monday.
Rout was suffering from diabetes, chronic kidney disease, severe anaemia and a horde of other complications. The lawyer was rescued by the police on May 24 from his house in CDA — where he was deserted and locked — following an order from Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC).
The OHRC’s order was based on the petition of High Court Bar Association Secretary, Jitendra Kumar Lenka.
Rout breathed his last at the ICU of the hospital while undergoing treatment. A four-member committee was set up to oversee his treatment as directed by the OHRC.
