Bhubaneswar: The Supreme Court Collegium has accorded approval to a proposal for the appointment of four advocates as judges of the High Court of Orissa.
The decision was taken at the Collegium meeting held on Tuesday (August 18), according to a statement issued by the Supreme Court.
The four advocates whose names have been approved for appointment are Sasmita Tripathy, Aditya Narayan Das, Rajjeet Roy and Gautam Misra.
The Orissa High Court is currently functioning with 17 active judges against a sanctioned strength of 33. Two judges, including Chief Justice Harish Tandon, are set to retire this year.
The approval marks an important step in the judicial appointment process. The formal appointments will take effect after completion of the remaining constitutional formalities.
The appointment of these four advocates is expected to strengthen the High Court and contribute to the faster disposal of pending cases.
