OSEPA To Promote Awareness On Traffic Rules & Road Safety In Odisha Schools
Bhubaneswar: In order to promote awareness among school students about traffic rules and bring down road accidents, the Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA) has decided to hold a programme in the schools on April 22.
In a notice issued on Saturday, the OSEPA has directed the experienced teachers of the school to conduct the programme on road safety with students and parents on April 22.
“Lack of awareness about traffic rules is one of the major reasons behind the incidents of children facing road accidents. Keeping this in view, School Students Helpline, OSEPA, School & Mass Education (S&ME) Department has developed a discussion point which will be shared with the children to make them aware of the traffic rules. All the children from Class I to X will participate in the programme,” said the notice.
“Rules are framed to have a disciplined society. There are some important rules which are codified and applicable to everyone in a society. These rules are known as laws and breaking these rules can have more serious consequences such as imprisonment or penalty. Similarly on roads, if we don’t follow the traffic rules then no one will be able to reach the destination on time,” the notice read.
The students will be taught why rules have been framed and their importance for their own as well others’ safety on the roads.
