Bhubaneswar: Continuing its drive against narcotic trade in Odisha, the Special Task Force (STF) of the Crime Branch (CB) on Thursday seized brown sugar worth over Rs 1 crore and arrested one person in this connection near Khurda Bypass on NH-16.
Following an intelligence input, the STF personnel conducted a raid on a place near the bypass and nabbed one SK Anwar alias Pintu of Muslimsahi under Kaipadar police station in Khurda district.
They recovered brown sugar weighing 1.31 kg and other incriminating materials from his possession. They arrested Pintu after he failed to produce any valid document in support of possession of the contraband. He will be produced before court, according to a press release.
The STF has lodged a case under NDPS Act, 1985 in this connection and started further investigation.
