Bhubaneswar: A team of Special Task Force (STF) seized over 1 kg of brown sugar and arrested one person in this connection near Baramunda Bus Stand here.
Speaking to media persons on Saturday, Soumendra Priyadarshi, Additional Director General (ADG) of Police (crime branch and law & order) said acting on intelligence input, the STF team intercepted a person on outskirts of Bhubaneswar on Friday and recovered 1.170 kg brown sugar from his possession.
The arrested person was identified as SK Hasim Bux from Jaleswar of Balasore district. He will be forwarded to court on Saturday. A case has been registered under section 21(c)29 of NDPS Act, 1985.
In the drive against narcotics in the state, the STF has seized 22.168 kg brown sugar, registered 24 cases and arrested 44 drug peddlers since January 1.
