Rayagada: Police on Sunday seized more

than one tonne of ganja from a stolen truck in the district.

According to sources, the truck was stolen from Maharashtra a few days back and police were tracking it through GPS. When they found the truck standing motionless in Ambaguda area, they reached the place. Its driver was absconding.

During search of the truck, they found 1114 kgs of ganja packed in 45 plastic bags inside it. The police seized the ganja as well as the truck. The seized ganja was estimated to cost around Rs 1 crore.

“The truck was on its way to Madhya Pradesh from Koraput. We are trying to nab its driver,” said a police official.
