Bhubaneswar: Over 100 professional physiotherapists from across Odisha participated in the Continuous Physiotherapy Education (CPE) 3.0 session at AMRI Hospitals, Bhubaneswar, on Saturday.
The event, organized by Institute of Physiotherapy & Rehabilitations, AMRI Hospitals Bhubaneswar, saw senior doctors updating participating physiotherapists on advanced practices which will be beneficial for the patients and public.
“Physiotherapists help to take care of patients in all phases of healing from initial diagnosis through the restorative and preventive stages of recovery,” said Nilanjana Mukherjee, Vice-President & Unit Head, AMRI Hospitals Bhubaneswar.
Dr S Srinivas Rao spoke at length on Brain Stroke & Hemiplegia in physiotherapy while Dr Patitapaban Mohanty discussed Osteoarthritis in knee joint for the benefit of physiotherapists.
Dr Sunil Kumar Dash, MS, Orthopaedics acknowledged the role of expert and technically skilled physiotherapists and remarked that it was because of their work that the length of stay of patients in hospital is reduced as the recovery is faster.
“Physical therapy is to help regain and restore the pain-free and comfortable movement and overall health that a person experienced prior to an injury, illness or disability”, said Dr Siddharth Mishra, Medical Superitendent, AMRI Hospitals Bhubaneswar.
Prof. (Dr) Rama Raman Mohanty, Directorate of Medical Education & Training (DMET), Odisha government, was the chief guest and Dr Patitapaban Mohanty, HOD of SVNIRTAR, was the guest of honour.
CPE is conducted every year to create awareness on the importance of physiotherapy and the crucial contribution of physiotherapists in helping people to be mobile, healthy and independent.
