Bhubaneswar: More than 300 people — comprising of students, self-help groups, entrepreneurs, farmers, senior citizens etc. – along with officials of RBI and other banks participated in a ‘Walkathon’ on Financial Literacy and Awareness organised by Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Bhubaneswar, on Sunday.
The walkathon, aimed to create mass awareness among the public, was flagged off by Dr Sarada Prasan Mohanty, RBI Regional Director (Odisha), from RBI office here.
RBI Bhubaneswar general manager Anita Patnaik welcomed all participants at the Field Level Financial Literacy event, which followed the walkathon.
Regional Director Dr SP Mohanty stressed on the importance of financial literacy and awareness, and also highlighted the steps undertaken by RBI in this regard.
RBI officers held multiple sessions on financial literacy, exchange facility of soiled and mutilated notes, digital banking, various types of frauds, cyber security, RBI’s integrated ombudsman scheme, etc.
State Bank of India’s Chief General Manager Dinesh Pruthi, NABARD Chief General Manager Dr Sudhansu K K Mishra and SLBC Odisha General Manager-Cum-Convener Goutam Patra also attended the event.
This was the last in the series of walkathons organised by RBI in all 30 districts of Odisha from December 2023.
