Over Rs 31,000 Penalty Collected From Violators Of COVID-19 Norms In Odisha’s Ganjam

Berhampur: Penalty amounting to Rs 31,500 has been collected by police from the people for violating the COVID-19 regulation of wearing masks in Ganjam district in one day.

According to official sources, the penalty amount included Rs 14,000 in Berhampur police district and Rs 17,500 in Ganjam police district. The district administration collected the penalty within 24 hours from September 18 morning.

The administration has also sealed five shops including fancy stores, footwear, hotel and others in suburban areas of Kanisi and Randha near Berhampur for alleged violation of Covid-19 guidelines. An amount of Rs 26,000 has been collected as fine from the shop owners, the sources said.
