Pabuk Likely To Cause Light Rainfall In North Odisha
Bhubaneswar: The cyclonic storm ‘Pabuk’ is likely to cause light rainfall in the north Odisha districts in the next 24 hours, said the Centre for Environment and Climate (CEC), SOA Deemed to be University in a release here on Saturday.
“The cyclonic storm above the Gulf of Thailand has moved west-north-westwards at a speed of 17 km per hour and lay centred over the Andaman Sea and its neighbourhood, about 1800 km south-east of Gopalpur on Saturday afternoon. It is very likely to move west-north-westwards for some more time and then re-curve in the north-west direction and cross the Andaman islands on the evening or night of January 6,” Director, CEC, Dr Sarat Chandra Sahu said.
He also said that the cyclonic storm is likely to have a wind speed of 70-80 km per hour gusting up to 90 km per hour and then move north-north-west wards and re-curve in the north-east direction towards the Myanmar coast and weaken gradually.
Sahu, however, said that the cyclonic storm is not likely to impact Odisha.
