Srinagar: A Pakistani terrorist associated with Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) was killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district on Friday.
“A Pakistani Jaish terrorist has been neutralised by a small JKP team in a joint operation with the Army and CRPF in the general area of Billawar, Kathua district,” Bhim Sen Tuti, Inspector General of Police, Jammu range, said in a post on X.
The terrorist has been identified as JeM commander Usman.
A large quantity of arms and ammunition, including an M4 automatic rifle, was recovered from te terrorist, identified as JeM commander Usman, PTI reported.
The operation was launched in the Billawar area after the forces received specific intelligence inputs. Once the area was cordoned off, contact was established with the terrorist. The Army and CRPF succeeded in eliminating the terrorist in a precise strike.
It was the fifth encounter in the conflict between security forces and terrorists in the Jammu region this year.
Four days ago, security forces busted an underground hideout of JeM terrorists located at an altitude of 12,000 feet in Kishtwar district.
One army jawan, identified as Havildar Gajendra Singh, was killed, and seven others injured in a gunfight with terrorists in the ongoing ‘Operation Trashi-I’. aimed at neutralising JeM terrorists in the region.
Additional reinforcements have been rushed to the area in view of heightened activity.
