Mumbai: A rehashed version of the iconic folk song ‘Akhiyaan De Kol’, featuring Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon, has offended fans of late Pakistani singer Reshma.
Slamming Kriti’s dance video, Pakistani actor Adnan Siddiqui wrote on his social media handle, “Imitation can be flattering, but not when it means tearing apart a classic by a legend. Please show some respect for Reshma jee and the legacy she left behind. Her music deserves to be treated with the dignity it commands, not reduced to just another sordid ripoff.”

Netizens agreed with Adnan and started trolling Kriti and directors of the rehashed version, for the upcoming film ‘Do Patti’.
A user wrote, “Thank you for saying this. What an obscene way to honor the legend that Reshma ji is.”
Another commented, “Music will never be heard by those who are not dancing.”
The original song was composed by Khan Muhammad, the lyrics were written by Sehrai Gurdas Puri, and Reshma lent her soulful voice to it.
Raj Kapoor had first used the song in ‘Bobby’ as ‘Ankhyon ko rehne de ankhyon ke aas pass’, sung by Lata Mangeshkar.
For Kriti in ‘Do Patti’, the song has been rehashed by Tanishk Bagchi, written by Kausar Munir and sung by Shilpa Rao.
Reshma also sang popular songs like ‘Dama Dam Mast Kalandar’, ‘Hai O Rabba Nahin Lagda Dil Mera’, and ‘Lambi Judai’.
