Berhampur: The Ganjam administration will be setting up pink booths in all blocks of the district with an aim to encourage participation of women voters in the three-tier panchayat elections.
One each all-women polling booth will be set up in all 22 blocks of the district. The polling stations will be entirely managed by women. The presiding officers, first and second polling officers and security personnel will all be women.
A pink booth, identified in Chatrapur block, will be set up at UPS Kanamana in Ward No 7 of Kanamana village under Kanamana panchayat.
Special arrangements will be made at this booth for the convenience of voters, including special care for pregnant women, Persons with Disabilities (PwD voters), among others, said Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange.
The three-tier Panchayat elections will be conducted in the district in five phases on February 16, 18, 20, 22 and 24 to elect 69 ZP members, 503 sarpanchs and samiti members each and 7099 ward members.
