Pandemic Makes Commuters Shift From Ola, Uber Cabs To Autos

Bengaluru: Cab-aggregators like Ola and Uber are facing a unique challenge. Once a preferred means of transport for commuters, there has been a significant switch to auto-rickshaws during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Auto-rickshaws being open on both sides allow better ventilation than cabs. This, coupled with the fact that auto-rickshaws are cheaper for shorter distances, have made Ola Uber-like aggregators sit up and take notice.

Both Ola and Uber have auto-rickshaw services. Uber recently started a long duration auto rental with option of multiple stops.
