Mumbai: Actor Pankaj Tripathi has decided to step back from the relentless pace of back-to-back films and web series.
Known for his impressive screen presence, the actor, in a recent interview, opened up about taking a break from acting after feeling creatively drained. “I was working continuously, and a sense of boredom and fatigue crept in. I wasn’t enjoying my work anymore,” Variety India quoted the actor as saying.
“Now, I leave home only for work that excites me. I don’t want to do every project that comes my way. I act for artistic satisfaction, not for EMI and survival,” he added.
In another conversation with NDTV, the actor reflected on how he had drifted away from the “slow life” philosophy he often spoke about. “I used to promote slow living, but I myself got into the fast life—especially around the pre- and post-Covid period,” he said, adding that working non-stop for long stretches had left him exhausted.
Comparing overwork to overeating, Tripathi explained, “By the time you understand the damage, it’s already done. The audience should also wait for me. I act to live, not live to act.”
The actor gained widespread recognition with ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ and went on to deliver power packed performances in ‘Fukrey’, ‘Masaan’, ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’, ‘Stree’, ‘Ludo’, ‘Mirzapur’, and ‘Newton’.
Tripathi recently made his debut as a producer with the web series ‘Perfect Family’, He will next be seen in ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’, which is slated to release on September 4.
