Bhubaneswar: After the much-talked-about casting couch controversy, Ollywood actor-comedian Papu Pom Pom has landed in a soup again.
According to reports, a poster of the upcoming Odia movie ‘Mr Kanehya’ that shows Papu holding a rope tied to the neck of seven girls has gone viral on social media.
Several well-known personalities have condemned the poster and demanded its immediate withdrawal.
Commenting on the issue, cine analyst Dilip Hali said the poster should have been censored before its release. “Papu Pom Pom, who was recently taken to task over the casting couch incident, has again committed the same act. The state government should take strong action against him and the producer of the film,” he pointed out.
Noted social activist Namrata Chadha said that the actors and the producers should take note of the culture and tradition of Odisha before releasing such nasty and vulgar posters in public. “I think this poster has been released to get immediate publicity,” she added.
However, there was no statement either from Papu Pom Pom or the producer of the movie on this matter.
The movie produced by Sidharth Music has Papu in a lead role with Jhillik as the heroine. It will be released on Ganesh Puja on September 2.
Alleging that the obscene poster is an insult to the women, social activist Linkan Subudhi, in a complaint lodged in the Mahila police station here later in the day demanding action against Papu Pom Pom, the producer and director of the movie.
