Bhubaneswar: Members of forum of parents’ associations of different private schools will stage a demonstration at Lower PMG here under the banner of parents’ associations’ forum on Saturday, demanding enactment of regulatory act for monitoring management of private schools in Odisha.
“In view of degradation and collapse of government education system in Odisha, we are forced to send our children to private schools. These private educational institutions are demanding exorbitant fee from the parents in the name of quality education,” a member of the forum said.
They alleged that most private schools have been charging fees mindlessly and torturing the students mentally by defying the provisions of Right to Education Act.
“The activities of the private schools are neither monitored nor are the grievances of the parents heard by the state government owing to absence of a regulatory body to monitor their functioning. The demonstration is being planned to draw the attention of the government to the issue and a memorandum in this context will be presented to school and mass education minister seeking his intervention,” the member added.
