Bhubaneswar: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Odisha Crime Branch probing the murder of minor girl Pari of Jadupur village in Nayagarh district will have a tough task ahead in the light of a report of the State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL).

The SFSL, in its report submitted in the court of the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM), Nayagarh, on December 14, has stated that DNA profiling of the human semen stain detected in the girl’s frock could not be done  due to degradation. Apart from this, the blood and semen stains and the hair samples on the old jute sack also could not be detected.

The SFSL had received a cardboard box containing one old frock having orange, white and blue colour with red and white flower print, one old and torn sack and one GI wire of 50 cm of length from the Nayagarh Sadar Police on November 26.

On December 22 SIT chief Arun Bothra at a press briefing named a 18-year-old college student as the prime accused. He also suspected sexual assault on the minor before her murder and said the semen stain found on the frock of the girl might be that of the accused.

However, the SFSL report has made the probing team’s task to nail the prime accused tougher.

Talking to mediapersons, Prafulla Satpathy, counsel of the accused, said the SJDM court will take a call on the basis of the SFSL report.

On July 14 the minor girl went on missing.  Her skeletal remains were found from a sack under a bush near a pond at Jadupur village on July 23.
