Nayagarh: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Crime Branch picked up a youth, his mother and sister from their home at Jadupur village in Naygarh district on Saturday morning for questioning in the Pari murder case.
The three are neighbours of the victim girl’s family at Jadupur village.
The youth, Saroj Sethi, and the two women were taken to the Circuit House at Nayagarh for interrogation, sources said.
Notably, Saroj had told the media on Thursday that the SIT chief had allegedly called him and offered Rs 5 lakh to confess to the five-year-old girl’s murder.

However, Odisha Police on Friday refuted the allegation against the SIT chief by terming it as “false and baseless”.
“Unfounded allegation by one person has been used to cast aspersions on the investigation agency. It may end up demotivating the officers who are sincerely working to unearth the truth. It is both unfortunate and unethical,” police said in a press release.
In a related development, the Orissa High Court on Thursday had expressed displeasure over the tardy progress of the investigation into the murder of the minor girl.
