Pari Murder Case: STI Probe Not Enough, Oppn Demands Odisha Minister’s Scalp; Know Who Said What

Bhubaneswar: While agreeing to the demands for SIT probe into Pari murder case, Chief Minister Naveen on Friday said if that is what is required, the state government will take steps in this regard and do it immediately.

Reacting to this statement made by the CM via video conferencing in the Odisha Assembly, BJP leader Jayanarayan Mishra pointed out that SIT probe has not been ordered and Naveen only said that steps would be taken if needed.

BJP MLA and LoP Pradipta Naik said, “We had not demanded SIT probe. We are firm on our demand for the ouster of Minister Arun Sahoo and a CBI probe into the kidnapping and murder case. She was killed by a well-organised organ trade racket.”

Congress leader Taraprasad Bahinipati told mediapersons that a high court-monitored probe will be impartial and fair and ensure justice for the victim’s family as there is every chance of the government influencing a Crime Branch investigation as a Cabinet Minister has been dragged into the case.

He, however, added that their demand for the minister’s scalp stays.

Meanwhile, BJD vice-president and Khandapada MLA Soumyaranjan Patnaik said that there was no point installing the house now since a probe is on to find out who all are involved in the case.
