Bhubaneswar: In order to regulate parking facilities and ensure smooth vehicular movement, the Twin City Commissionerate Police has decided to tow away the vehicles parked at wrong places and impose a fine on the owners.
According to sources, all the vehicle owners have been advised not to park on congested stretches of roads in the capital city. Instead, park the vehicles at designated parking spaces or away from the main road.

- Alok Bharti Building to Saheed Nagar Durga Puja Mandap on Janpath
- Janpath (from Kalyan Jewellers) to Charak Medical Store via Sparsh Hospital
- Trupti Service Station on Janpath to Saheed Nagar
Violation of this rule may attract a fine of Rs 500, added sources.
Notably, 135 vehicles were towed away by the traffic police between November 23 and 28 from the streets of Bhubaneswar. Apart from towing away the vehicles, Rs 67,500 fine was collected from the offenders. They also had to pay the charges for towing the vehicle.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on November 22 threatened to seal designated parking premises in residential and commercial complexes for violation of norms after inspections found that the vehicles were being parked on the streets in the city while the premises were put to commercial use.
