PDP Moves Fresh Resolution In J&K Assembly Seeking Restoration Of Article 370

Srinagar: The opposition People’s Democratic Party moves a fresh resolution in Jammu and Kashmir Assembly to seek restoration of Articles 370 and 35A. “This House strongly condemns the unconstitutional and unilateral abrogation of Article 370 and Article 35A, along with the enactment of the Jammu and Kashmir of its special status and statehood, undermining the foundational guarantees and protections originally accorded to the region and its people by the Constitution of India,” the resolution read.

“We urge the Government of India to respect the constitutional and democratic sanctity of Jammu and Kashmir by reinstating all special provisions and guarantees intended to preserve its distinct identity, culture, and political autonomy,” it read.

Earlier, Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah had said on November 4 that the resolution moved in the assembly seeking restoration of the law was introduced just ‘for the cameras.’ He claimed that such resolutions had no real significance.

Abdullah had made such a remark after the newly-elected Jammu and Kashmir Assembly was marred by ruckus on the first day (November 4) as PDP MLA Wahid Parra moved a resolution against the scrapping of Article 370.
