Bhubaneswar: Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Niranjan Patnaik on Wednesday said that the Pradesh Election Committee (PEC) will finalise a list of the candidates for the ensuing Assembly elections by August 31.

“The list would be sent to the AICC Screening Committee which will refer it to the Central Election Committee (CEC) for the final decision. The PEC will have another round of meeting before August 31,” Niranjan told mediapersons after the second meeting of the PEC at the Congress Bhawan here.
Stating that the PEC is not inviting applications for the selection of candidates, he said the list of the candidates are sent by the party at the block level to the District Congress Committees (DCCs) from where it is referred to the PEC
