Bhubaneswar: This popular tragic love story has seen many adaptations over the years, both in Bollywood and regional film industry. It has light up the silver screen with all its grandeur and subtleness. Odia director Mrutynjaya Sahoo has now dared to tell the story again.
‘Nayakara Naa Devdas’, the story of love, heartbreak and self-destruction has one-film-old Asit Patra playing the titular role, with Bhoomika Dash and Ollywood diva Anu Choudhury as his love interests.
Produced under the banner of Anjaneya Media, Debidutt Mohanty has written the dialogues and Baidyanath Das scored the music.
“I am playing Chandramukhi. It is the most difficult character in the story. Starting from the outfit to her intense emotions for Devdas, I am trying to get into the skin of the character. There is mujra and other songs, which people will love to watch,” said Anu, who is known for her near-convincing portrayal of characters on screen.
After an impactful performance in ‘Bhairab’, Asit as Devdas is confident to prove his mettle with the iconic love story.
“I feel blessed to have bagged the role of Parvati aka Paro in the early years of my career. I watched all films made on Devdas to understand the intensity of love between Devdas and Paro. Amid her worldly duties, Paro waited for her childhood love for 10 long years. I want people to remember Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s Paro through my acting,” said the talented Bhoomika.
She recently took to instagram to post the first look of her character from the sets of the movie. With saree draped in traditional Bengali style, long flowing tresses and the characteristic red bindi, she looked every bit a Bengali damsel.
