Sundargarh: Vigilance sleuths caught Panchayat Executive Officer (PEO) of Badagugua gram panchayats under Bonai Block in the district while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 6000 on Tuesday.
The accused has been identified as Gayatri Jayapuria.
According to vigilance sources, Jayapuria had demanded Rs 6,000 from Nitish Kumar Mishra to issue a no-due certificate in favour of his father Jatin Mishra, former PEO, to facilitate the release of his pension.
Acting on a complaint lodged by Mishra, the sleuths laid a trap and caught Jaypuria red-handed while she was accepting the cash from the complainant. The entire bribe money was recovered from her vanity bag.
Her residence and office chamber are being searched, the sources added.
