Bhubaneswar: The winter chill is making its presence felt in Odisha with the temperature dropping sharply in the interior parts of the state in the last few days.
The mercury fell below 15 degree Celsius in four towns last night with the lowest of 12.8 degree Celsius being recorded at Sonepur followed by Angul at 13.8, Phulbani and Daringibadi at 14 degree each.
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 19.8 and 20 degree Celsius respectively.
According to the India Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature is likely to fall by 2 to 3 degree Celsius in the next two to three days,
The weatherman, however, has forecast rainfall at some places in the state under the influence of a low-pressure area in Andhra Pradesh coastal region.
On Wednesday, Director of Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre H R Biswas had hinted at a gradual decline in the temperature from October 30, following the withdrawal of the southwest monsoon from Odisha.
