Personal Angle Behind Odisha Minister Naba Das Murder Getting Stronger: Narasingha Mishra
Bhubaneswar: Amid reports about medical board finding no abnormality in dismissed ASI Gopal Das, senior Congress leader Narasingha Mishra on Tuesday hinted at a possible personal enmity behind health minister Naba Kishore Das’ murder.
“Gopal Das had approached Naba Das for a job for his niece. Something might have transpired during those meetings. Interrogation of Gopal’s niece will help to bring more clarity to this angle,” he told the media.
Narasingha further said that he suspects that the family might have then hatched a plan to eliminate the minister. “It was also evident from Gopal’s actions and behaviour that they were relived once it was carried out successfully. Why did then Gopal’s elder brother close shop and move back to Berhampur just before the incident?” he questioned.
To suppress the truth, all attempts are being made to prove Gopal as mentally ill . “Soon after the firing incident, his wife told the media that he was suffering from mental illness. The doctor, who treated him eight years ago, immediately recognised him as his patient. The BJD government fears that the truth might put the party in trouble and is making all efforts in that direction,” he said while referring to Mamita Meher murder case and the conspiracy angles which had put the government in a spot then.
“Usually, it is the accused who take the mental illness plea to escape harsh punishment but in this case, it is the government which is hellbent on declaring him unsound. This raises serious doubts is one’s mind,” he said, adding that the psychiatric evaluation of Gopal did not mention any mental illness and two courts seemed to have accepted it.
