Petrol Diesel Prices Hiked By Nearly ₹4 In 7 Days; Cong Says Common Man Burdened
Bhubaneswar: Fuel prices were hiked for the 7th day in a row leading to petrol being priced at ₹ 75.64 a litre in Bhubaneswar. Diesel touched ₹ 71.69 on Saturday.
Overall, the price of petrol has increased by ₹ 3.9 a litre and diesel has gone up by ₹ 4 in the past seven days.
The effective hike in a day for petrol and diesel was 60 paise per litre.
The seventh day in a row hike came after a 82-day hiatus in rate revision.
Congress leader Kapil Sibal pointed out that despite international crude oil prices being at their lowest level in 15 years, the government is increasing taxes on petrol and diesel here.
“If the government had even the slightest feelings for the common man, instead of benefitting the companies and the government, the prime minister would have helped the common man with reduced fuel prices,” he said adding that the government has earned Rs 44,000 crore in just the last six days due to the hikes.
