New Delhi: After a slight reduction in international fuel prices and rupee gaining against the US dollar, the prices of fuel was reduced across the country. While the petrol price was cut down by six paise, diesel price was reduced by five paise.
In Delhi, while the petrol price stands at Rs 78.29 a litre, down from Rs 78.35, diesel rates have been cut to Rs 69.20 per litre from Rs 69.25.
The fuel prices had skyrocketed for 16 consecutive days, resulting in widespread protests by the public. In the last 16 days, the overall price of petrol was hiked by Rs 3.8 per litre, while the diesel price was hiked by Rs 3.38 per litre.
On Thursday, the price of petrol and diesel was reduced by seven paise and five paise respectively.
The hike had come after almost three-week hiatus on price revision, just ahead of the Karnataka polls.
This is the third reduction in as many days.
