Pfizer, Moderna Vaccines To Be Available In India By July!
New Delhi: American pharmaceutical companies Pfizer and Moderna are in talks with the Centre over their COVID-19 vaccines, Niti Aayog member (health) Dr VK Paul said.
“Approval to Pfizer and Moderna is under consideration,” Paul was quoted as saying by Mint.
The Niti Aayog member informed that Pfizer has indicated its vaccines are expected here in July.
The development comes a day after government officials said that if India enters into procurement deals with Pfizer, Moderna and J&J, the supply of vaccines would be boosted.
However, Pfizer and Moderna have asked for an indemnity bond to exempt it from legal hassles in case the vaccine has adverse effects.
Pfizer has already obtained legal protection in countries like Britain and the United States, India has not given vaccine indemnity to any manufacturer.
“We are examining this request and will make a decision in the larger interest of people and on merit. This is under discussion and there is no decision as of now,” Paul had said on May 27.
