Bhubaneswar: The state government has decided to start post-graduate medical courses in the Capital Hospital, here from 2022-23 academic year.
According to a notification of the Health and Family Welfare department, the Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMSR) will start functioning at the Capital Hospital from next academic year.
The institute will have 53 seats in 15 departments including 11 clinical and four non-clinical/para-clinical.
It has been decided to admit five PG students each in Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Paediatrics departments and three each in the rest 11 departments subject to approval from the National Medical Commission (NMC).
After completion of their courses, the hospital will have 53 new doctors each year so that its health services will get a major boost.
